Convention and Exhibition
Miles for Millions
On 26th February, 1976 a mammoth road show was organised under the aegis of the Young Men's Welfare Society. It was christened Miles for Millions. Mother Teresa blessed this innovative awareness drive and participated in a long walk from the Ramakrishna Mission Cultural Centre at Golpark in South Kolkata to the Maidan in the heart of the city. Ministers of the West Bengal government Shri Bholanath Sen and Shri Shankar Ghosh also joined in along with Canon Subir Biswas.
City of Joy
In January 1990, a multi-mural four-day festival was organised to celebrate the city of Kolkata’s Tercentenary. The event was graced by Mother Teresa, noted musicians Shri V. Balsara, Ustad Rashid Khan and Shri Ananda Shankar; Indian playwright, actor and director Shri Habib Tanvir; noted Indian magician Shri P. C. Sorcar Jr. and several other celebrities. Hon'ble Justice Ranganath Misra, former Chief Justice of India, also graced the occasion.
Spirit of Peace
Gen. V. K. Singh, Chief of Army Staff (then GOC-in-C, Eastern Command), inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Spirit of Peace’ at the ICCR in January 2010. 11 international and 4 Indian photographers contributed to this exhibition which holds special significance in the cacophony of our lives. Let us, for once, be silent and listen to the heavy baritone of peace itself.
