Teachers - A Powerful Instrument of Social Change

Teachers need to be concerned not only with the pupils’ results but also with the purpose, quality and nature of the educational experience.

All the teachers in the Khelaghar schools and Diksha are female teachers. They serve as role models for the girls and ensure that the children and their parents are comfortable with the classroom environment.

A recent World Bank Report has indicated 25% – 30% absenteeism among teachers in Indian schools. YMWS schools record only 5% absenteeism among teachers.

Our teachers are required to be graduates as a minimum qualification. In order to improve the quality of teaching, they are given in-service training regularly and are also encouraged to attend training programmes both within the country and abroad.
