Success Story

Tridib Purkait

A Journey of Grit and Determination

Tridib, the youngest son of a humble phuchkawala from Rajarampur village in the Kulpi block of South 24 Parganas, grew up witnessing his parents struggle selling phuchkas at street intersections to make ends meet. In 2002, when Khelaghar started a new school near their village in Raghunathpur, Tridib's parents saw an opportunity for their son's education and a brighter future.

Admitted to Khelaghar, Tridib quickly adapted to the nurturing environment where education and life skills were imparted through play, discipline, and compassion. As he grew, so did his dreams. The foundation of education he received at Khelaghar helped him develop not just academically, but also instilled a sense of discipline and hard work.

Through perseverance and dedication, Tridib steadily climbed the ladder of success, passing numerous stages in his life. Today, he proudly serves the West Bengal Police, stationed in Barrackpore. His journey from the unpaved village lanes to the corridors of law enforcement is a remarkable testament to his determination and the impact of Khelaghar on his life.

Tridib's success has transformed his family's circumstances. His parents no longer have to stand at street comers selling phuchkas; their son's success has brought them the security they had once dreamed about. Tridib's life experience highlights the power of education and determination in actualizing one's own and their family's aspirations.

Khelaghar played a pivotal role in making Tridib's dreams turn to reality, and today, his success stands as a beacon of hope for other children hailing from similar backgrounds.

Abhijit Mistry

A Journey from Khelaghar to Medical Officer

23 years ago, Abhijit Mistry stepped onto the playground of his new school, Khelaghar for the very first time. His dreams defied his very humble background. His parents, father being a Rickshaw driver in the city and his mother working as a domestic help toiled hard each day as daily commuters to Kolkata to provide for the family.

Despite the challenges, young Abhijit nurtured a strong desire to alleviate his parents' suffering. He found his new school, Khelaghar, to be a place where teachers instilled life lessons through love, patience, and dedication. It was here that Abhijit's dreams began to take shape, as Khelaghar not only offered academic knowledge but also widened the horizon for him.

With determination and perseverance, Abhijit excelled in academics and took confident long strides on the path to success. His journey took him to Ludhiana, where he pursued and completed his degree in medicine. Today, he is whole heartedly living his dream of becoming a doctor.

Abhijit's achievement is a testament to the nurturing environment at Khelaghar and the unwavering support of his teachers. His family's financial struggles are now things of the past. His father no longer drives a rickshaw, and his mother no longer works as a domestic help. Their home is now in Kolkata's posh Swinhoe Lane, a reflection of how far they have come.

Dr. Abhijit Mistry's journey from Khelaghar's playground to the corridors of modern medicine stands as an inspiring example of how a solid foundation of education can change lives.
